Welcome to Tymberwood Academy

Welcome to Tymberwood Academy. We are thrilled that you have taken an interest in our school and taken the time to view our website. We hope this initial welcome and, the rest of the site, gives you the information you seek and a flavour for our school.  You can also find us on social media, where you will be able to see what we get up to during the school day - for Facebook search Tymberwood Academy and Twitter use the handle of @tymberwood.  If you still want to find out more, then please do contact our school office to ask any questions that you may have.

We are a thriving two form entry school (with a Nursery) which serves approximately 450 pupils. We are often called, “The hidden gem of Gravesend!” as not many parents and carers know that we exist – but when they send their child to Tymberwood they can see that we give them the best possible chances to succeed through nurturing their potential; aiming to inspire this generation of children to be the best that they can be by providing them with excellence in all areas.   We are so lucky to be able to do this in the expansive grounds that we have – we do not have a large school frontage on the road, but as soon as you enter our school gates you will be amazed at how vast our school grounds are.

We have a broad, balanced and community relevant curriculum. The three main pillars in which we build around are: Skills and Knowledge, Enriching Opportunities and Behaviours for Life.  We want our children to acquire targeted and transferable skills whilst learning critical and broad banks of knowledge which allow pupils to fully prepare for the next stages of their learning journey. Distinctive enrichment opportunities are woven throughout the school; they explicitly link to learning where cultural awareness and capital is built upon and solidified. This also includes our 11 promises of experiences that the children will have before they leave our school (fondly known as 11 before 11).  Preparing pupils for the next stage of their learning, and for a place in modern Britain, is about developing the whole child. We must prepare them with the character, virtues and values to withstand the winds of change and positively impact on society. If you would like to find out more about our curriculum and 11 before 11 then please use the corresponding curriculum tab on the website.

We whole heartedly believe that enticing children to read and building a real passion towards reading for pleasure is essential in laying the strong foundations needed for all areas and aspects of learning.  We equip them with the ability to decode whilst growing them as individual readers.

As a SRP (Specialist Resource Provision) for Physical Disabilities and serving a higher than average number of pupils with SEND, the staff are unrelenting in their drive to give the children the highest quality provision. Their thinking and daily action is fully child and need centred. They see no barrier in what children can achieve, no matter what their starting point is. Moreover, the everyday ethos and climate at Tymberwood is something that we are immensely proud of. The consistent care and purposeful nurture provided is at the heart of what we do.

At Tymberwood, we are absolutely committed to continuous improvement where we are always striving to sharpen the quality of the children’s learning. If you are a prospective parent or carer do take comfort in knowing that, at Tymberwood, your child will be deeply cared for, challenged in their learning and have consistent opportunities to ignite a passion for learning.

Please do contact our school office on 01474 361193 to enquire about available spaces or ask for any further information that you may require.  If you are enquiring regarding a place in our Nursery or next academic year’s Reception you can either contact our office, or complete this expression of interest form and we will get back to you with information about prospective tours as soon as we can.
