If you are interested in joining our amazing Nursery provision, we can offer you a stay and play Nursery Tour.  During the tour you will be able to experience the nursery provision we offer your child whilst meeting our Nursery Team.   If you are would like to book a session please contact the school office for the available dates.

Nursery: Rationale

Our nursery is a vibrant, child-centred setting where children are encouraged to develop a love of learning through exploration, discovery and play. We take great pride in providing a stimulating and engaging environment, offering exciting experiences and activities that are carefully shaped by the children's interests and developmental needs.

Children benefit from free-flow access to our outdoor learning environment, where they can explore the woodland area, engage in imaginative play in the mud kitchen and develop their physical skills through activities such as riding trikes. These rich outdoor experiences support children's creativity, independence and overall wellbeing.

Alongside play-based learning opportunities, children participate in planned adult-led activities designed to develop key early literacy and numeracy skills. Through the teaching of phonics, number recognition and early mathematical concepts, children build strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, preparing them successfully for the transition to school.

We are immensely proud of the provision we offer and of the progress children make during their time with us. Equally important is the happiness, confidence and enjoyment that we see children demonstrate each day as they learn and grow within our nursery community.

We welcome children from the term following their third birthday and currently offer a morning session from 8:30am to 11:30am, five days a week.

We recognise our responsibility to ensure that children receive the fullest possible educational experience during their time at Tymberwood Nursery. As factors such as whole-school INSET days and bank holidays can reduce access to provision, we carefully plan opportunities to maximise and extend learning wherever possible.

As part of the school's wider curriculum vision and ‘Big Picture’, we believe that meaningful, enriching experiences are essential in bringing learning to life. We also recognise the importance of building strong relationships with families from the earliest stages of a child's education. To support this, we offer termly stay-and-play sessions, providing opportunities for parents and carers to engage in activities alongside their children and strengthen their connection with the school.

Developing a lifelong love of reading is a key element of the school's overarching vision. We aim to inspire and nurture children's enjoyment of books, particularly nursery rhymes and high-quality picture books, helping to foster a positive attitude towards learning from an early age. Each week, children explore a carefully selected core text, with engaging activities planned around the story. These texts are chosen to be diverse, inclusive and captivating, broadening children's experiences while promoting language development, curiosity and a love of literature.
