We use a synthetic phonics programme called Letters and Sounds to teach our pupils to read. We have invested in an interactive programme called phonics play which can be accessed at www.phonicsplay.co.uk to help make the learning as fun as possible.
In EYFS we use phonics based books to support pupils reading. These are are Dandelion Readers and Songbird phonics books. As the children progress with their reading we use a range of reading schemes including Pearsons and Oxford Reading Tree. These are colour banded to match children's reading levels.
We have a library within school which pupils spend time every week. Children are also encouraged to read for pleasure in school and at home, both on-line and the more traditional way!
